Maverick ‘après ski’

The challenge

Maverick, a specialist AV distribution business, asked us to create a show-stopping event experience at ISE 2022 that showcased their bold, innovative and playful brand and drove customer engagement.

Conceptual planning

DSA has been a trusted design partner for Maverick for more than six years, and previously created a Tiki bar experience at ISE  which wowed clients and prospects. 

This time, it was all change, as we set about creating the joy of après ski, transporting guests from ISE halls to the ski slopes of Verbier. 

Visitors to the audio-visual distributor’s stand were invited to Happy Hour at a jaw-dropping two-storey ski lodge surrounded by snow-capped mountain ranges. The space measured a total of 448 sq m, made up of 304 sq m ground floor and 144 sq m of double deck.  

Every single detail was thought of, including striking lighting fixtures made of real snowboards. The stand, which was created with timber-look interiors, incorporated a cosy seating area partly created with snowboards. Visitors were invited into meeting spaces cleverly partitioned with actual skis, while overhead suspended tiles showcased show-stopping graphics.

The solution

Visitors were encouraged to find out more about Maverick via video screens raised onto timber-look walls, some of which were cut out to create the silhouette of a mountainside. The check in desk was designed to look like a bar in an upscale resort, and Maverick branding and graphics were made larger than life in a space that could not be missed from the show floor. Designed to be modular, elements of the exhibition will be reused for future shows. 


The results

Maverick enjoyed substantial footfall of 43,000+, improved its client experience post-Covid in a face-to-face environment, and brought together a global team. 

The stand was shortlisted for the ISE Stand Design Awards 2022.

“This was very different from all the corporate stands that you find at ISE. The stand drives customer engagement because it’s relaxed, it’s fun. Everyone who visits the stand has positive things to say. It’s the best stand we’ve had. 

“This is the sixth year we’ve worked with DSA. They collaborate so well with us. They’re agile and flexible when managing other partners. They’ve been fantastic for us yet again.”
